Our Story

Jesse is an Environmental Scientist with a degree in Conservation Biology, a bush food expert, and the owner/operator of LORE Australia.

The story of LORE began over 30 years ago, while Jesse was on Country with his uncle, a Guringai elder. They spoke about the significance of the balance between Country, Community, and Spirit, emphasising how native foods are integral to traditional wellness customs and the importance of sharing knowledge within the broader community. It was during this time that Jesse was introduced to one of Australia’s most powerful superfoods, Guradji – a traditional native plant renowned for its potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. His uncle, following the tradition of wise elders before him, passed down to Jesse the ancient knowledge of how Guradji has been used for thousands of years by their people for its health and medicinal benefits.

Having personally experienced the transformative power of Guradji in daily life, Jesse has curated a range of Guradji-based products infused with other beneficial Australian native ingredients that enhance quality of life and foster a connection with the land from which they are sustainably sourced.

LORE Australia is dedicated to traditional practices and sustainability, which permeate every aspect of the operation. From wild harvesting to traditional organic farming and hand-curing techniques, they ensure the integrity and purity of their products. Drawing on ancient wisdom and tradition, LORE Australia embrace innovative practices to maintain the potency and authenticity of their ingredients. As a 100% Australian-owned and operated First Nation business, they pay tribute to Country and uphold their commitment to supporting the community, enriching both heritage and future.

With a background in environmental science and conservation, Jesse brings to LORE Australia a passion for caring and nurturing the natural environment. Through collaborations with TAFE and working for various organisations, including Jesse's role as Aboriginal ranger for New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service, he has dedicated his life to environmental education and conservation efforts.

Jesse's extensive knowledge of native bush foods and medicinal plants motivates him to pass down knowledge about Australia's indigenous ingredients and to uphold traditional practices. By encouraging a deeper appreciation and respect for Country, Jesse aims to bridge the gap between modern Australians and his culture through the exploration of native foods.
